The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by president, Bill Clingan.
The treasurer’s report was read and approved.
Old Business:
This year’s field day was a huge success. We had a couple of people pass their test. We had 200+ contacts. A PSK31 demonstration was done. Bill talked a little bit about PSK31. He said all you need is the software, which is free, and the interface, which runs about $59. There is more info on the club web site.
The Arab Tribune gave the club wonderful coverage on field day.
Bill said that a few weeks ago, someone flipped the breaker for the air unit at the repeater site. The building was 160 degrees when he got there. He reported it to Charter.
New Business:
Bill discussed the fact that we need to change the custodian of the club call sign to someone with an Extra class radio license. This will allow the use of the club call sign at all times. A motion was made and seconded that if we find a club member with an extra class license that would be willing to take on the responsibility, we would have the call sign transferred.
The triathlon in Guntersville is Saturday, August 12th. We need volunteers. There will be 300-400 people there. Volunteers would be helping pass out water and emergency situations. All the info is on the club web site.
The Huntsville Ham Fest is Saturday, August 19th.
We are trying to put up two new repeaters to be used mainly for local communication. Possible sites are the Arab police station tower or the tower at the high school. The frequencies would be 443.325 and 146.800.
There is a weather spotter class on September 12th at RSVP in Guntersville. There will be another class the same day at 6:30 p.m. at the Arab Recreation Center.
The meeting was adjourned.
