BMARA Meeting Minutes — February 05, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by president, Bill Clingan.
The treasurer’s report was read and approved.
Bill read a thank you card from the Thomas Dowling family for the flowers that were sent to the funeral home.
New Business:
Bill discussed the problems that have been going on the past few months involving the repeater, Skywarn, and the other nets. The club will be helping with any emergency situation, but will not be participating in the nets. Some of the property owners of the repeater locations had been contacted several times by Doug Hilton (ARES). The property owners started to get harassed. Things got to a point that Doug Hilton from ARES threatened to sue us. We retained a lawyer to put a stop to everything that was going on. We have filed complaints with the FCC. The FCC wrote a memo saying that basically, whoever owns a repeater has total control and can decide who gets to be on it or not.
XX XXX XXXXXX XXX XX XX XX XXXXXX XX XX XXXXX.  XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXX XXXX XXX XX  XX XX-XXXXX.  XXX XXX XX XXXXXXXX XX XXX XXXX.  Note: See addendum below.
We have written a repeater operations document that is on the web site. We did this so that there would be no misunderstanding on why we did what we did. We have a lot of support from people outside the county. The club web site has a lot more info on everything that has been going on. It lays out the problems with ARRL and ARES. Everything has pretty much been put to rest.
We are going to have a testing session the first Saturday in May. The location will probably be in the Arab Recreation Center.
We are planning on participating in the Alabama QSO again this year.
The meeting was adjourned.

Addendum:
Due to email received from the ARRL the text was deleted at their request. There was some assumption on our part. Below is the factual information.
Six people that went to the Dec 23, 2006 test session in Albertville will have to retake their tests again. The test session did not comply with the Part 97 rules and was rejected. The FCC and ARRL were notified about this test session infractions. My assumptions which may be wrong was they would look into this.
